I certify the cause of death in my opinion to be Bullet wounds through the skull and brain.

POST MORTEM REPORT

Kyriakos Christofi MATSIS, aged 32, of Palechori.
20.11.1958, 10.10 a.m. Mortuary Nicosia General Hospital.

The body was identified as that of Kyriakos Christofi MATSIS by Christofis Kyriakou MATSIS, father the deceased; and as that found at the scene of death by Det. Insp. S.E. COX.

The body was that of a well-developed well-nourished stocky adult male; height 66”. Generalised rigor mortis was present, with lividity on the posterior aspect of the body.

The following injuries were found on the body:-

Bullet wounds:-
1. A bullet entry wound, 0.7cm. in diameter, just below the outer angle of the left eye, surrounded by dense black powder deposit with occasional tattoo punctures. The bullet passed upwards and to the right, puncturing the globe of the left eye, perforated the roof of the left orbit lacerated the brain and emerged through a large irregularly lacerated exit wound, 5x3cm. situated just to the right of fronto-parietal region of the head.

2. A bullet entry wound, 0.7 cm. in diameter, just in front of the left ear, with an occasional side-split, but no powder-marks or tattooing. The bullet passed upwards and to the right, through the brain, and emerged through an exit wound, about 2.5 x 1.5 cm., situated in the right front-parietal region of the head.

The brain was extensively lacerated and haemorrhagic.

Wounds caused by an explosion:-

The right knee, lower thigh and upper leg were blown up form behind, most of the skin being in shreds and the bones shattered. Black powder deposits and some scorching were present in and around this wound. Numerous splinter punctures were also present on the right lower extremity.

Numerous splinter puncture wounds were present on the left leg and thigh, with some powder marks and scorching.

The right side of the body from the thigh upwards to the shoulder, and extending onto the back, was peppered with numerous splinter puncture wounds. Similar wounds were present behind and on the inner side of the right arm.

Small metallic fragments were removed from the legs and handed over to Det. Insp. COX.

Cause of death: Bullet wounds through the skull and brain.
